For more than 65 years, the Letters & Science Honors Program has offered students close connections with UW Madison’s top faculty, participation in an enthusiastic community of students pursuing a world-class liberal arts education, and the opportunity to engage in research projects! Whether taking faculty-led seminars, challenging themselves in pursuing the breadth and depth of knowledge, practicing creative thinking, or cultivating informed citizenship, Honors students embody liberal arts education at its best!

During the 2025–26 year, L&S Honors awarded nearly $19,000 from the donor-supported General Fund to 18 Honors students for their study abroad or conference experience. Your gift will support L&S Honors in its teaching, research, and public service roles, providing direct funding for student study abroad, research opportunities, and academic conference attendance that put into practice the Wisconsin Idea.

Our challenge to you

This year, our goal is to double the number of donor contributions received during the previous Day of the Badger. Receiving gifts from 25 donors will unlock additional funds, made possible by several generous donors that are already Paying it Forward! Please join them in supporting the next generation of Honors students by making a gift today!

Student impact

“My time abroad was the most life-changing, unforgettable, and educational five months of my life…I developed a deeper sense of empathy and a stronger ability to understand diverse perspectives, backgrounds, and cultures. This experience profoundly enriched my Honors journey by igniting a passion for continued exploration, lifelong learning, and meaningful engagement with others.”

– Meghan M. ‘x26, Studied in Seville, Spain in Spring 2025

Gifts will be contributed to the College of Letters & Science Honors Program General Fund – 112540125 at the University of Wisconsin Foundation.
